I just found another batch of my Grandma’s recipe books that had been packed away in the garage for the past 12 years, including some that date back to the 1930’s when she was first setting up house. I got particularly fascinated by the recipes to make common sauces, dips and mixes that we now take for granted as coming from jars and boxes. I’m starting off by sharing some of the recipes for sauces, dips, dressings and condiments. My goal is to share a bunch of these old fashioned recipes so we know how they’re made and can whip up a jar of mayonnaise, for example, in a pinch. I figure this is a good project for me to do this winter while I’m not out in the garden.
